Job Description



The SWM Division is seeking an innovative and creative Wireless Systems Developer to join the team in the Waterloo, Ontario office. They create a diverse set of products that demands an environment of constant learning, in a friendly and team-oriented atmosphere.

The focus of the position is the design and development of wireless systems solutions to augment the division’s ASIC & ASSP offerings. The team works on the applications and building blocks for our wireless and DSP integrated circuits. This position will also contribute significantly to the development of firmware in wireless protocol stacks that customers use to develop their own applications on devices.


Job Responsibilities



• Focus on development of firmware for wireless applications, particularly using Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low energy (BLE)
• Build world class embedded solutions for our wireless and/or DSP system-on-chip devices
• Contribute to the system architecture of our wireless and/or DSP platforms including providing input to the IC architecture, board-level system design and defining interactions between hardware & software
• Contribute critical firmware components to our ICs including libraries & sample applications
• Contribute to system level validation of our ASICs & ASSPs
• Providing technical content for end user documentation
• Support for customer issues or requests


Experience



• Strong knowledge of wireless protocols or other networking technologies
• Strong embedded software development skills with experience in C and/or assembly language
• Excellent understanding of embedded system design at the board & IC levels
• Knowledge of microprocessor architecture including boot ROM, memory sub-systems, interrupts & typical peripherals such as timers, UARTs, I2C, etc.
• Experience using standard lab equipment for testing, taking measurements & debugging systems
• Detail-oriented and quality conscious throughout development cycle
• Experience with scripting languages, preferably Python
• Excellent written and oral communication skills


Required Experience



• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably with specialization in embedded systems, communications protocols or digital signal processing
• 5-10 years of experience working with wireless protocol, embedded systems and firmware development
• Interest or experience with the semiconductor industry
• Experience with wireless technologies especially Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy or other Bluetooth applications
• Experience developing solutions to quality-driven processes or standards
• Experience working with FPGA prototype platform would be an asset


Required Education



• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably with specialization in embedded systems, communications protocols or digital signal processing
